How Tall was Tupac?
Tupac Amaru Shakur was a famous rapper, actor, and activist who died in 1996. He had a difficult childhood as his father was a member of The Black Panther Party and his mother was an activist involved with the Black Power movement.
Shakur first achieved national attention when he released his debut album “2Pacalypse Now,” which focused on social issues such as police brutality, black power and racial inequality in America. His second album “Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z.” won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance in 1993.
In 1995, Shakur was convicted of sexual assault for sodomizing a woman in New York City after meeting her at a nightclub earlier that evening; he would spend eight months in prison before being released on bail pending appeal (he would eventually be acquitted). After being released from prison, Shakur signed with Death Row Records and began recording his third album “Me Against the World” with Tupac’s friend Shock G from Digital Underground producing the album’s single “Dear Mama.” The song became one of Shakur’s most well-known songs about mothers who raise their children alone or without support from men because they are either incarcerated or dead
Works of Tupac
As the world mourns the loss of Tupac Shakur, let’s take a moment to remember some of the artist’s most famous works.
- “Dear Mama”
Tupac’s most famous song is about his mother, who raised him and his sister in poverty. The lyrics are heartfelt and emotional, and they have inspired many artists to write similar songs about their own mothers.
This song was written on the heels of the 1992 Los Angeles riots when Tupac was only 17 years old. He wrote it as a way to express his anger at what he saw as an unjust system and unfair society that failed to protect people like him from violence and poverty. The song has become a rallying cry for young people who feel marginalized by society at large.
- “California Love” feat Dr. Dre & Roger Troutman (ft Kurupt)
This song was released in 1996 as part of 2Pac’s double album All Eyez On Me, which sold more than 10 million copies worldwide! It features Dr. Dre on vocals as well as Roger Troutman on saxophone. It was one of many collaborations between these two artists in the ’90s (they also worked together on “California)
In 1991 Tupac released his first album titled 2Pacalypse Now under Death Row Records. This album was very successful and helped launch his career as an actor and rapper. He went on to release 5 more albums under Death Row Records before leaving due to creative differences with the record label’s CEO Suge Knight.
Furthermore, Tupac released two more albums under other labels before his death in 1996 at age 25 due to gunshot wounds sustained during a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada. His final album The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory was released posthumously shortly after his death.
